Apprentice – Design R&D

An opportunity to be become an apprentice at NIFCO UK who are a world- class, advanced automotive components manufacturing business.

• To design and develop thermoplastic automotive components
• Design components and assemblies in Catia V5: 3D models and detail drawings as required
• Support the customer focussed design and sales functions with concept or detail designs in response to customer RFQ’s and nominated business
• Review customer designs and negotiate changes
• Prepare DFMEA’s and support the completion of other PPAP documentation
• Use FEA to predict performance under mechanical and pressure loads
• Use CFD to predict pressure drops and flow rates for water and air systems
• Obtain and carry out benchmark assessment of competitor products
• Carry out literature searches and other fundamental research as necessary to support the R&D activity
• Identify potential opportunities to develop new or better technologies for functional and commercial advantage
• Participate in the preparation and testing of prototypes using the 3D printing
• Any other ad hoc activities as may be required by the business from time to time

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprentice will be working towards a L3 Engineering Technician- pathway 11 at Hartlepool College of Further Education
