Finance Apprentice Advanced Level 3 (A level)

Network Rail are now recruiting Finance Apprentices to join their Accounting Services team to complete an AAT apprenticeship programme, which includes the level 3 programme. This role is an entry level scheme designed as an alternative route to University. It has various duties such as financial reporting, and other finance assistance tasks.

As a finance apprentice and a key member of the finance team, the role will involve liaising with people from all departments and at all levels. As a finance professional, you’ll inform finance multi-million-pound decisions and directly influence the development, growth and operation of their railway. 

Overview of duties: 

• Assist with periodic financial reports
• Post journals and other key financial inputs
• Assist businesses with updating project information on the Network Rail key systems
• Provide support with ad hoc reporting as requested by the business
• Undertake ad hoc finance assistance based on queries received
• Support is key for achieving the key team metrics 

There will be an option to work from home for part of the working week, with the rest of the time being in the office. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

• Assistant accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

Alongside your role, you will study towards the level 3 AAT qualification.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

• With progression towards the level 4 AAT qualifications.
• You will receive support from industry-experienced tutors and coaches.
• Ideally, they want to recruit someone who has a genuine interest in accounting and commitment to progress on to Professional qualifications, such as CIMA to become a chartered accountant
