IT Apprentice

Exchange Data International are looking for an IT Apprentice to join their team! The IT Apprentice role will be within the Infrastructure Team of the Data Operations Group and is responsible for supporting and maintaining EDI’s IT systems and for providing efficient desktop support to all business users.

Working as part of the team, this position is responsible for resolving any IT-related faults quickly and efficiently in line with SLAs, which include a broad range of queries. Your key role will be to provide end-user and desktop support as well as assist in the maintenance of MS Server, Desktops, Printers, Routers, etc. procurement of hardware and maintaining the asset registry. You will be expected to grow by keeping up to date on new best practices and technological advances or techniques on a continuing basis.

Responsibilities will include:

• Support and maintain Office 365 Solutions and G Suite Solutions
  Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate support teams for resolution
• Install, configure, upgrade, maintain and support desktop systems based on service requests along with installing antivirus software and overseeing software license renewals
• Maintain servers, computers printers, and other software and hardware peripherals including antivirus installation to desktops and laptops
• Set user access rights and permissions and create VPN accounts for users
• Troubleshoot desktop and system problems, diagnose, and solve hardware/software Incidents/problems
• Manage incidents and requests via the ticketing system
• Provide solutions/workarounds to incidences and problems
• Work to SLA thresholds for incidences, requests, and problems
• Systems monitoring and performance monitoring as requested
• Support Users on both hardware and Software applications
• Report of faults within the helpdesk system and to provide support for MAC computers, mobile devices, and printing
• Patch as required network and phones
• Diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
• Procurement of hardware and software
• Maintaining EDI’s IT asset registry
• Perform repairs and replacements of software and hardware peripherals
• Provide job training to new hires as needed and assistance to other administrators when requested
• Perform failure analysis and determine corrective action plans
• Maintain accurate documentation for system installations, configurations, upgrades, and disaster recovery activities
• Perform the job role in compliance with EDI’s security objectives as defined in EDI’s policies and procedures

To meet the requirements of the Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship programme you will need to spend 6 hours a week of your time undertaking off-the-job learning, which will include:

• Formal training, including online learning and internal learning events
• 1-2-1s with your coach and line manager
• Observing and shadowing colleagues
• Writing up learning reflections for your portfolio

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
